Unfortunately the author/publisher chose not to disclose in the blurb that this ends on a cliffhanger. Had I known, I would not have purchased. If you also hate cliffhangers and get irritated when authors aren’t up front about them, wait to purchase until this series is completed. Very disappointed by that. And she doesn't dwell on the paranormal aspect in this book so far. It's the first book in a three book series and I'm glad I knew that ahead of time. Nope, was a complete bore once the MC is given the reveal that vamps are afoot. Never thought a vamp story could be so boring nor vamps so humanly weak. Fangs in name only... There was no falling action to speak of with almost all of the plot still in progress at the point cliffhanger occurred. I understand this is book one in a series; however, I do think it is extremely unnecessary to end a story whether it's part of a series or not with such a cliffhanger. Atlas an ex marine is back home with horrific scars from a monster straight out of the worst nightmare he could imagine and which ended up with him losing his entire team. Working for his sister who runs a security agency where he’s the bodyguard to Christian a rich playboy whose father basically owns and runs the whole surrounding area. Things aren’t what they seem and Atlas soon finds he’s in deeper than he planned. Brilliant read and looking forward to the next book ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 12, 2021 )

The world building was splendid, the writing style enjoyable, most characters likeable. I loved the pace and the synergies between our MCs Atlas and Cristian. Since the book was written in the third person from Atlas' perspective there was always something unknown lurking in the back which gave the story a mysterious vibe.
