She told pregnant poor women to go ahead and have the birth, then learn about birth control methods afterward. Catholics constantly smear her. Wish they would read this book. People are not perfect nor are all their ideas, thoughts or beliefs. Some in current times sit in judgment looking back from a lofty future place. However, it is so very different than working in dirty, poor, dark and crude conditions day in and day out. Some of the ideas are mistaken some are not. This book describes the life she had and experiences that drew her to advocacy for women. The deplorable conditions of the poor and of women in general would stir anyone to aid in the relief for them. Before anyone under the age of 75 wants to judge this person, who is as flawed we all are as humans, read this book and study the limitations of women in the past up to the early 20th century and beyond. As someone who was told that I would die if I had one more baby, I appreciate the efforts to remove scandal and indecency from birth control/pregnancy prevention. Distorted according to to Sanger's biographer, Ellen Chesler, in Chesler's 1992 book "Woman of Valor." Victorian culture which hampered her efforts at making contaception legal and acceptable, and her childhood social class no doubt caused Sanger to neglect mentioning her Boheman lifestyle.
